Lame part of the story. )

The following happened to me at the beginning of the night. New favorite conversation ever. No paraphrasing; this is verbatim:

Gas station guy: "WHAT THE HEEZY?"
Me: "What? I'm Dr. House!"
Guy: "Oh! I thought that was a real beard!"
Me: "No. Wow, that would have been really rude, your reaction, if it had been real."
Guy: "Oh yeah. Oh. Wow. Well I apologize. If it had been real."
Me: "...I accept your theoretical apology."
Guy: "Thank you. Good. I'm glad we had this theoretical conversation."

HAHAHA. People, I made my 5 o'clock shadow with EYE shadow, and AT LEAST eight people said they thought it was real.

I thought I'd take a break from never updating my LiveJournal to exploit my flist for any knowledge about cell phones. I have T-Mobile, and a crummy 3-year-old Samsung phone that doesn't do anything cool, but a) I drop all the time and it never breaks and b) I bought this horrible Superman theme ringtone for it, so I feel like we're kind of attached now.

Should I bother to get a new phone? Are phones cool these days? What should I get? Assume I don't want to switch providers. Also assume maybe I want to continue to drop my phone on asphalt all the time.

[I know people are really concerned with WAYRT-verse continuity. This actually happens before they don't pick up Chelsea Staub at the bus stop. NB: This was written before we knew Greg Garbowsky was a person, so "Greg" refers to Grunberg.]

Penn and Chace were in Penn's apartment, watching Season 2 of Gossip Girl on Penn's TiVo. Penn's Chace Crawford Wishlist had recorded all of the episodes.

"Ba-doop, ba-doop," said the TiVo, as Penn scrolled through the first few episodes of the season.

"Spotted: My favorite episode!" Chace exclaimed, excitedly, as the TiVo came to rest on Chuck in Real Life. Penn looked disbelievingly at Chace, who felt the need to elaborate. "I just love the scene where Dan and Nate have an argument about Nate's living situation." There was a pause. Penn seemed to be trying to recall the scene. "Lots of sexual tension," Chace shrugged.

"Oh, definitely. It was really well-acted." Penn answered. Then, after a pause, "we need new friends."

Both young men considered this prospect in silence for awhile. A few months ago, their friend Ed had left to tour with his new band, Bulldozette. The breakup of his old band, The Filthy Youth had been hard on Ed, and forming Bulldozette with his friends Greg and Nick had been his only comfort, despite the fact that it meant the end of two other bands, and Hugh Laurie had been leaving Ed threatening phone messages ever since. The only kink was that the band had really picked up with a very specific, incredibly rabid demographic, and the band had been touring nonstop for months. Chace and Penn missed the dynamic Ed brought to their friendship, as everything had become incredibly gay since he left.

"I think I still have Zac's number in here," Chace said pulling out his phone, and started to scroll through the phone book. "Also, he told me Joe's been really lonely since-- here it is." Chace pressed dial and waited. And waited. Penn heard a voicemail beep.

"Hey Zac, it's me again," Chace started. "Just calling to see what you're up to! I know you said you're busy these days and all that... Hey, by the way, do you happen to have Joe's phone number? Let me know. Hope your hair's okay. Talk to you soon." Chace finished the voicemail with a practiced efficiency. He looked over at Penn who was cradling his head in his hands.

"Okay, he didn't answer. Again." Penn said without looking up. "Can you just look up Joe's number somewhere else? Or call Blake? Anything." He rubbed his forehead as though in pain.

"Already on it!" Said Chace, who was, in fact, already typing 'joe jonas phone number' into the google search bar on his iPhone. "338,000 results. Wow."

"Forget it, forget it. I'm calling Leighton." Penn said, frustrated. "She can bring over her Next Generation DVDs."

The end.

On opening day! Two weeks ago. While I was at the theater, I saw that everyone in America was seeing it too. Anyway, spoiler city )

I posted this so Danielle would stop using the LiveJournal nudge feature on me.

Danielle and I went to a midnight showing of High School Musical 3. I have to be at work in like five hours. The movie didn't make sense, was awesome, and drew exactly the midnight crowd one would expect.

The whole experience was mortifying!

Mark your calendars for the Family Guy episode that colored our entire Comic-Con trip. It...it ruined out lives. This Sunday on Fox!

I'm watching Sarah Connor Chronicles from last night, which, please do bring in the rest of the Judging Amy cast. Did anyone else find it hilarious when John saw some watermelons on the floor and asked some guy, "So what happened here?"

PPL I know everyone's just here for Danielle's Penn Badgley fanfic, so I won't delay in directing you to Chapter 2: "Hurlyburly". More to come.

Last weekend Liz and Adam, my two BFFLs from my semester in Australia, came to visit me and it was the best weekend I've ever had in Austin. It was pretty off the hook.

I've been really bad at watching TV this week. Fact: the only shows I successfully watched were Middleman and Gossip Girl. I watched bits and pieces of Prison Break, and tried to watch Eureka but I don't think it was on. Bones started last night, and I had no idea. Everything's in my DVR though.

True story!

Chapter 1

[Oz] - win!
Hello LiveJournal friends, Valeah here! I wrote a fan fic, here it is:

CHAPTER 1:
Penn Badgley, the hottest actor on the critically derided CW smash hit Gossip Girl was standing in the middle of the action section of Best Buy. Television's Adam Baldwin walked by. Because he worked there.

"Excuse me," said Penn Badgley, "where might I find Little Women, starring Christian Bale?"

"Not in the action section." said Television's Adam Baldin.

"Oh," said Penn Badgley. His hand grazed the rhinestones on the fly of his jeans. He had Bedazzled (TM) the fly just last week.

*Flashback*
Penn Badgley sat in the middle of the floor in a bedroom in a sweet 30's New York loft stark naked, bedazzling the fly of his jeans. An English bulldog was sitting on the bed watching with mild interest. Frances McDormand and Michael Phelps walked in. Frances made a disgusted face.

"At least it's not the vacuum cleaner," said Michael Phelps, eating a 530 calorie donut.

"Hey man, are you okay?" Asked Television's Adam Baldwin, "you drifted off for a second."

"Oh, yeah, I just had a flashback," said Penn Badgley "Frances McDormand was there."

The End.

I went to Comic-Con, and I had the flu, but we still rocked it quite a bit. I had a really fun time. I'll try to make a recap post with a thousand pictures.

I spent last week recovering and trying to start eating again. On Friday evening I went to San Antonio to bother Liz and Laura some more, and we had a very nice weekend, but I totally came down with a cold. I think I was getting it on Friday at work. What the hell.

So now I've got watery eyes and the kind of situation where I have to blow my nose every two minutes forever and am feverish and tired and one side of my face is swollen up. So dumb!

Big Read Top 100

Taken from [info]failing_light

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.

There should be a half-bold option for books I read for school but didn't REALLY READ. )

So...I made it to ten books/series, but they're basically all children's books. Many thanks to Fyodor Dostoevsky, for writing the only really adult book on those guys' list that I've read. (No offense to George Orwell. But like, I read his books when I was 11, and I GOT them, you know?)

Also, for the record, the last book I read was A Wrinkle In Time, the book I'm reading now is The Giver, and the next book I intend to read is Twilight. I am 13.

But, I am reading.

Five important things going on in my life

1) Best post ever on food_porn. And by best, I mean most hilarious. Mood: sad :( Crying bunny icon. Ahahaha.

2) Rambling about this season of The Mole, which I watch )

3) Speaking of television, I was bored one day at work so I made a list of shows I plan to watch this fall. It's long and sad. ) See? That's pretty sick.

4) Also speaking of television, I have hardcore started watching Joan of Arcadia on this weird HD channel we now get. It is pretty awesome. And somehow I've already seen several episodes from the first season, although I only remember watching it once, and not on purpose.

5) Firefox 3 is full of bugs. Don't download it.

Look, I'm making an LJ entry! Look at me go!

Legitimately extremely boring RL update )

I made an account on twitter, and it's great. Now I can keep track of all my awesome thoughts, like "Maybe I should cut my hair" and "I'm drinking a million gallons of Dr. Pepper a day" and only update here on LJ with important things, like how great I think Lee Pace is and how Eli and Maggie should definitely get married on Eli Stone.

By the way, I think I should get a hair cut, and I drink a million gallons of Dr. Pepper each day.

This movie is great. I don't know about the plot. But Lee Pace has this thing going on where he's dreamy and very demanding, and he kind of shakes Amy Adams about, and then later someone else manhandles her, and Lee Pace thinks that only he's allowed to do that.
